In the company of a few fun guys, I realize this food is work. The regular anticipation sets in. Listening to the vent for the air in the room to finally come on line. I prepare my posture for the kindness and the heat grows in my core until my fingers feel artificial. Moments work on me and now the shadows twitch. My nose starts to run. The light in my world is drunk and fails to stay on the surface of its fixed position. I now have power over all dead things. In the company of dust, I and mine exist in our world, all shot to hell. I appreciate every endurance and chaos the plants around me have to offer. Then I notice the trees. They’re winning. My nose is running again. I head back inside and I wrap myself up. Now it’s me waiting for my boots to touch the floor again.
